As you know, Government and Church of England guidelines now allow for Youth & Kids Ministry to meet back in person. As a team, we’ve been praying and thinking carefully how we can best serve you as a family at St James, whilst keeping everyone safe.
So, we’re really excited to tell you about the plans for Youth & Kids Ministry at St James starting on Sunday 6th September.

You will need to book for all the services described below - find them on the Attend page HERE.
The current guidelines don’t allow us to run a creche during a service or toddler groups. So, we’re starting a new service aimed at 0-7s and their families every Sunday at 3.00pm, lasting around 30 minutes. You can expect craft, messy play and fun bible teaching upfront. Children will remain with their parents for the duration of the service and will be provided with individual craft packs. You’ll need to book for this service as we’re currently limited to 15 households.

Promiseland will run alongside the 10.30am service every Sunday. Expect a fun-packed programme of games, craft, drama and teaching. Children will be split into groups of up to fifteen plus at least two leaders, each meeting in separate rooms in the church building. These groups will stay the same each week in order to reduce the number of people they come into contact with. You will need to drop your child off at the relevant entrance before the 10.30am service and pick them up once the service has finished.
As well as hand-washing, cleaning and ventilating our rooms, we’ll remove any shared equipment and children are welcome to bring their own bibles, water bottles and colouring pencils, or can use our take-home resources. Masks are not compulsory for children under 11. You can book your place when booking for the service. For those who prefer to watch at home, we’ll continue to make the same teaching and drama video available to watch and email out the craft and parents notes.

Younger & Older Youth
School Years 6-13
We’re excited to be revamping the 6.00pm service to be aimed at Youth and Young Adults. Young people will join a small group made up of those in the same year group with a couple of leaders. These groups will stay the same each week and will be socially-distanced. Face masks are encouraged for those aged 11+. The service will include teaching from the front, age-specific small group discussion and prayer, live music and time to reflect. You will need to drop your child off to the service, though you may be able to stay for the service if there’s capacity. Any adults who come for the service will be able to sit in their own clusters separate from the young people and have their own discussions.
For those who would prefer not to join in-person, we’ll be meeting on Zoom every Wednesday at 5.00pm for a repeat of the Sunday’s teaching and discussion. Get in touch if you’d like to join.

Promiseland+ and Youth+
School Years R-8
We’ve worked really hard to make sure we can care for those children and young people with additional needs. We’re pleased to be restarting Promiseland Plus and Younger Youth Plus alongside the 10.30am service. Children and young people will be provided with one-to-one support where needed and teaching appropriate for each ability.

We hope you’re as excited by these plans as we are. Do join us in praying that God would be glorified and his people built up through these changes. And if you have any questions or concerns, click HERE for the FAQs section or get in touch.
